About Me

One of the youngest Cuban immigrants to reach US soil during the 1980's Mariel Boatlift, Yisbel discovered her passion for art at a young age amidst the sunny backdrop of Miami. Her parents had to start anew and reinvent themselves, working multiple odd jobs and going back to school to provide a modest living. Since shopping at stores was not always an easy option, Yisbel learned to sew, knit, crotchet and embroider under the guidance of her grandmother. Her first grade teacher later discovered Yisbel's artistic ability, which was then developed over the next ten years by art teacher Fe De La Rosa--a former professor at the prestigious art school in Habana Cuba, La Dominica Francesa.

Although heavily equipped, Yisbel was hesitant to leap into an artistic career. She focused the early portion of her twenties on her university studies and the development of a successful career in marketing and public relations. Unfulfilled and missing her greatest passion, she then enrolled in the Miami International University of Art and Design's Fashion Design Program, ultimately reinventing herself much like her parents.

After making her mark in South Florida within the industry, it was time to take on a bigger challenge and a different scene in Los Angeles. Throughout her ten-year career, Yisbel has had the privilege of creatively contributing to international brands such as Perry Ellis, Sass & Bide, Blue Blood, and most recently Geren Ford. Her prints and designs have been featured in publications such as Women's Wear Daily, Lucky Magazine and People Style Watch. Aside from her keen eye, attention to detail and exceptional level of taste, she is most often recognized for her synthesis of artistic ability and sharp business acumen. Knowledgeable across a variety of categories including denim, shoes and handbags, as well as across disciplines--from conceptual design through production, she offers a unique perspective.

Yisbel prides herself with the ability to breathe life into conceptual thought. She finds every opportunity to be creative in all aspects of her life—especially when enjoying her favorite pastimes of traveling, cooking and finding innovative ways to transform flea market finds with friends.
